“destroy the bogus capitalist process that is destroying youth culture”
Kurt Vile gets better and better with each new album. Like a highly prolific fine wine that records music.
Even better than Goblin and Bastard, y’all.

As you may’ve already noticed, Little Insects albums are created in alphabetical order. The first letter of the alphabet, A, went to Almost Ghost and the second letter, B, went to Brighter Than Darkness. And so for the letter C, comes a mixtape called….
![]()
(The mixtape is a free download on the Little Insects bandcamp.)
Because the mixtape violates Bandcamp terms of services and all of its borrowed samples/lyrics are completely unauthorized, I can only keep it online until Bandcamp threatens to suspend my account—or actually does suspend my account. That’s totally fine with me, though.
Y’see, the Cease / Desist mixtape is a highly unpolished, spur of the moment creation I made mostly during a long weekend. This is also simultaneously the weirdest and most poppy chimerical music beast I’ve made. It belongs in the dark nether regions of my hard drive. Some of its original elements may appear in my next full-length album, some I will outright abandon. I am reluctant to call this a “work” but more of a “study for future works”. To put it more succinctly, this is the most fun I’ve had recording music in a long time.
So download it while you can.
Oh yeah. And in the spirit of mixtapes… here is a(n annotated) tracklist of the album with links to the songs I sampled/borrowed from and their respective YouTube links:

This is (kind of) a cover of Weezer’s “El Scorcho” that is also kind of a mash-up of “Free Falling” by Tom Petty and “So What’Cha Want” by Beastie Boys with a little of Roy Orbison’s “Oh, Pretty Woman” thrown in for good luck. I came up with this while practicing for my show this Saturday.
HOUNDSds — We Gotta Wait (Phone Thou, 2012)
Really into this dreamy new HOUNDSds album via Chill Mega Chill.
This is a piano and drums demo of a song I’m working on. It’s about why people love that’s that hate them instead of those that love them back. It may appear on the third, full-length Little Insects release.

I’ve just given my “About” section a long-overdue rewriting. I dropped the 3rd person thing, since you and I both know I’m the one writing all this content. Check it out at: http://omardelarosa.tumblr.com/about
